Overview

NetRichmond is a local information hub for Richmond, Virginia. The site provides original descriptions, links to external resources, and embedded services. It does not currently offer user accounts, comments, or a site-hosted form that asks you to submit personal information.

Information you provide

If you email NetRichmond at info@netrichmond.com, the information in your message and email address will be used to read and respond to your inquiry. Email is handled by the email providers involved in sending and receiving the message; do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary.

The Contact page's Copy button copies the displayed email address to your clipboard when supported by your browser. It does not send the address to NetRichmond.

Embedded services and external links

Some pages load services operated by other organizations. Examples include WeatherWidget.io/Forecast7 for weather, AirNow for air-quality information, Google Maps, Google Fonts for typography, Window Weather hosted on TwoClicks.net, Sudokumax for the daily Sudoku, Jigsaw Explorer for the Richmond photo jigsaw on the Games section, and GamePix for the embedded Skater Kitty game. GamePix may display ads within its own player and handles technical data under its own policies. When an embedded service loads, the provider and its hosting or delivery services may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details, referring page, and request logs. Providers may use cookies, local storage, or other technologies under their own policies. The Jigsaw Explorer puzzle loads the photograph from NetRichmond's public `assets/Richmond-VA.jpg` image URL; see Jigsaw Explorer's own privacy information for the provider's handling of its puzzle service.

Links to event calendars, reservation services, news publishers, rental searches, hotels, and other resources take you to third-party websites. Their privacy practices and terms apply when you use those services. NetRichmond does not control their data collection or content.

News feeds

The site's RSS reader fetches allowlisted public publisher feeds from the web server and caches results for about 30 minutes to reduce repeat requests. Headlines and short summaries are processed for local relevance and the optional positive-story view; NetRichmond links to the original publisher rather than republishing full articles. Feed requests are made by the server, not as a user-specific request to the publisher. The hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs.

TV listings, maps, and location features

The TV listings page requests public U.S. schedule information from TVmaze and caches schedule responses temporarily. The station directory and transmitter map use Leaflet and OpenStreetMap map tiles. On the antenna map, browser location is requested only after you choose the location button. If you type an address or ZIP code into the map, that query is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service to find approximate coordinates. These coordinates are used in your browser to calculate approximate straight-line distances; NetRichmond does not save the location search to its own database. Reception notes are stored in your browser's local storage, not sent to NetRichmond. The relevant providers may receive standard request and technical data under their own policies.

Analytics, measurement, and advertising

Page measurement scripts may be loaded through the live site's Google tag / Google Tag Manager configuration. The current PageSpeed test also detected Google measurement scripts and a Crazy Egg script, so those services may collect usage and interaction information depending on the active tags and configuration. Google and Crazy Egg apply their own privacy terms to data collected by their scripts. The site owner should review the live tag container and applicable consent requirements whenever the configuration changes. NetRichmond's manual AdSense placements remain disabled in this package. Third-party game embeds may show provider-controlled advertising within their own players.

Children

NetRichmond is a general-audience information website and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Please contact us if you have a concern about information you believe a child has submitted directly to the site.

Data security and changes

Reasonable steps are taken to maintain the site, but no website or email transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. This policy may be revised as NetRichmond adds features, analytics, advertising, or other services. The effective date above will be changed when a substantive revision is published.
